while trying to switch trains at city hall, i couldn't help noticing the dark clouds of grouchiness that hung over the faces of the people who managed to shove their way onto the train. yet still more were trying to pack into the train, oblivious to the fact that the next train would be arriving in three minutes.
is it worth it, i thought to myself, to arrive at your destination three minutes earlier, but hopping mad. is it sensible to ruin an otherwise perfectly good day, just to save yourself three minutes, which will probably be wasted away complaining to a colleague about the fat indian man pushing behind you.
this further reaffirms my faith, that human time is constant. if one had taken the less crowded train three minutes later, he would have saved the three complaining minutes, and effectively started whatever it was he had to do, with the complaining man, who took the earlier train. it's pointless trying to "save time", it's not going to happen.
so it all boils down to the option: happy day? or grouchy day? you decide.
